Glacier Lake Trail - March 17, 2002

This snowshoe expedition is rated 4 high-tech $60.00 polycarbonate avalanche shovels out of 5 on the Snowshoe Expedition Shovelometer.

Finally went snowshoeing with Jack and Ruth.  They borrowed snowshoes from Kevin, and we all headed up Highway 2 to the Glacier Lake trailhead.

Here's a security tip for Sue: Remember to roll up the freeking window before we lock the doors and head off into the woods.  Note the new bright red high-tech $60.00 polycarbonate avalanche shovel that Sue got at REI in a fit of rampant consumerism.

Jack and Ruth were all smiles.

Brunch - M&M's and bagels.

More smiles...

Another JPG moment...

Wandering around - briefly - at the bottom of an avalanche chute.

Trying out the snow bench - the sun finally came out for a minute or two.

Sue butt-sliding across the Scary Snow Bridge.

A Christmas card scene.

On the way home - the view from Highway 2 looking back into the Cascades - wonderful sun and clouds.
