Sauk Mountain  -- August 10, 2002

This hike is rated 5 boots out of 5 on the Hiking Boot-o-meter.

We spotted this lady wandering around in the woods looking for some toothpaste.

Frank and Jim did some weird dance sort of thing prior to starting the hike; we're still not sure what the deal was...

At this point Jim and Carol had a big lead, even over Frank.

Here Diane assumes her movie star pose.

These 2 ladies seemed somewhat unsure where the trail was.

Mt. Baker finally peeked out from behind the clouds.

Sunday breakfast, then later to Jack and Ruth's for a dinner spent planning next May's Southwest Red Rock Trip.

As the result of some ill-conceived and unfounded remarks from an unnamed member of this expedition (you know who you are, Jim), the following must be included in the account of this hike...

The Washington State Child Protective Services, in conjunction with the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, and the American Foundation for Families Containing Amphibians and Waterfowl, take extreme pleasure in awarding to David and Sue Frazee the 2002 Award for Best Inter-Species Parents for 2002.

The 2002 award is being presented mid-year because in the judgment of the judges, no other couple could even come close to winning this coveted award, so there was no point in waiting.

Consistent with their modest and understated way of life, the Frazees tend to not mention this award, but if pressed will in fact make reference to same in response to questions pertaining to their parenting prowess.
