In marked contrast to the currently fashionable and oh-so-trending quagmire of Social Networking, we here at the forefront of the nascent but hopefully inevitable realm of Petulant Networking strive to be unsociable and phlegmatic, generally avoiding contentious and relevant issues, and imposing on our weary visitors no tedious recitation of our prosaic views of the sordid affairs of the world. We just have a bunch of pictures of hikes and trips and stuff, for those all-too-frequent times when we need to be somewhere else for a while, somewhere that allows us to escape the fringe-dwelling perch from which we peer unflinchingly, albeit somewhat obtusely, into the yawning abyss of reality. Or some such tripe...
... and for all you TwitHeads out there: Blah-Blah-Blah-Blah-Blah-Blah-Blah-Blah-Blah-Blah-Blah-Blah-Blah-Blah-Blah-Blah-Blah-Blah-Blah-Blah-Blah-Blah-Blah-Blah-Blah-Blah-Blah-Blah
Upcoming Stuff ...
... wherein we crank up our Reality Generators and lurch off into the distance in search of new and improved adventures.

Note that some of the Archive Pages below contain way too many images, and if you're connected using dial-up (!) or even slow broadband (i.e. <1.5 mbps), you can expect that only the top portion of the page will load. Of course, this means that you won't have to look at so many images, so maybe this is not entirely bad news. In any case, you can click here to send a complaint.

Haiku, Schmaiku...
As part of our on-going effort to make this web site more palatable to you literarily-inclined surfers out there, we have decided to sprinkle shards of Haiku throughout these pages, much as one would accent a slab of the finest meatloaf with blobs of spicy ketchup. Here is a preview, which should, sadly enough, give you an idea of what to expect:
Haiku, haiku, who
really needs it? Is it just
an irritation?
Be aware that, in fact, the world's first case of Rap Haiku - "Rapku" ® - may soon appear right here.
Oops - too late - here it is:
Haiku, yo, haiku.
You be that funky rap groove.
Haiku, yo, get down!
Contributing to this seething pit of poetic parsimony, Ruth in Redmond checks in with:
Haiku, haiku,
it is really you?
Back to my navel.
Note the blatant and refreshingly bold, indeed almost reckless, disregard for the 5-7-5 syllabic structure of traditional Haiku, and the apparently sarcastic and wonderfully succinct "Back to my navel.", which one assumes alludes to expressions such as "contemplating my navel", popular in the 1960's, which was typically used to make light of things deep and meaningful. Or perhaps it was supposed to be "Back to my novel.", as if to say "I have better things to do than spending time with this Haiku business, and will now return to reading my novel". Or, who knows, maybe Ruth is actually writing her own novel and is eager to return to the task. Was it "naval", perhaps, referring to upcoming sailing trips? Could we get some clarification on this, please, Ruth?
And how about that second line? The careless reader perhaps first notices the question mark, and then blithely reads this line as "is it really you?". But upon closer examination, the attentive reader recoils soberly, taken aback when realizing that we actually have the declarative statement "it is really you" with a surprise question mark at the end! Well done, Ruth in Redmond. Keep 'em on their toes...
In any case, kudos to Ruth in Redmond for being the only one of you, so far at least, to beat decorum back into the bushes and jump into this Haiku melee. Makes the rest of you guys look pretty bad...
Let us know what you think, or maybe be really brave and
submit your own Haiku which will be analyzed, critiqued, and otherwise lambasted
as deemed appropriate, all at absolutely no cost to you:
Wake up, George.
At the annual Radio and Television Correspondents Association event in Washington on March 24, 2004, President Bush jokingly added mock commentary to a series of photographs taken in and around the White House. One series of photos showed Bush in awkward positions - on his knees, looking behind curtains, and moving furniture in the Oval Office. The President stupidly provided such inane comments as: "Those weapons of mass destruction have got to be somewhere!", "Nope, no weapons over there!", and "Maybe under here?"
The reason we hold truth in such respect is because we have so little opportunity to get familiar with it. - Mark Twain
